Renewal of the "self" where the "self" can be an individual, a family, an organization, a city, or a nation, can happen only when the "self" embraces the new situation and discards the old.

A serpent renews itself by discarding its old skin. Similarly, we have to get rid of the mental maps of our past to renew and regenerate in alignment with the present environment.

The experiences of our past and the corresponding expertise become irrelevant in a fast and continuously changing environment. It is ironical that technology changes exponentially (Moore's Law), whereas, humans, who are responsible for the change in technology, change linearly.

The education systems and models in existence today, which are based on the relatively stable environment of the past industrial age has become irrelevant and redundant to prepare us in dealing with the rapidly changing environment.

We need a major overhaul in our approach to life to enable us navigate the VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) environment.
